Dance Typing Mat

I completed another an activity called Dancing Mat Typing. This activity is to practice typing without looking at the pātuhi.

First, I had to set up a Tekau ma rima timer.

Next, I had to wahi my fingers on the whakatika keys.

Lastly, I need to take a kapomata of which level am I, put it on the google slide and type down what do I need to improve on.

This activty was hard because I kept pressing the wrong keys and looking at my pātuhi.

Persuasive Speech

I learnt how to use Persuasive Speech.

First I needed to think about what topic I should use for my argument. My topic was Less Littering. My argument is that  Plastic needs to be banned because plastic is non biodegradable and our audience were my class and Mr Ogilvie.

Next I wrote down 5 reasons. We needed to find a website to back up our argument.

To finish up I wrote down my last reason. Plastics need to stay away from the beach because the beach would look messy and contaminate fish and seafood.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to keep plastics away from the beach.

Persuasive Speech

My partner and I learnt how to use Persuasive Speech.

First We watched a video that was about Brainstorming and Planning. We brainstorm different topics that we want in ourselves, school and world and type it down on a google drawer or on a google doc.

Next we typed down the ideas we have brainstormed. We made a circle and shared our ideas so people knew what to type.

To finish up we highlight the words in a traffic light's colours. The traffic lights are to rate our ideas. Red means stop or we don't need to use it, Yellow means it's fine to use and Green means it's great to use.

I enjoyed this activity because it would help me persuade someone.

Next time I should persuade someone.

Plants

I typed down three introductions about Plants.

My first introduction sentence was Basic Facts. Basic Fact is is telling the reader that something is rue. Plants are things like trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses, ferns, and mosses. To successfully grow plants you need seed, water, sun, soil.

Me second introduction sentence was Questions Hook. Question Hook is when you ask the reader something that they can visualize and try to think of in their own minds. Did you know that an average size tree can provide enough wood to make 170,100 pencils? Plants are seeds, water, sun, and soil.

My last introduction sentence was Explain Emotion. Explain Emotion is making the reader emotions feeling when reading the introductions. Plants can be fruit and vegetables that are healthy for everyone to eat. To grow plants you need seed, water, sun, soil.

Explanation Topic

I planned a topic of How plants grow. I had to add mechanisms, cause and effect sentences, and information sources.

I typed down the mechanisms. The mechanisms I typed down are Seeds, Water, and Sun. The cause and effect for seeds is Put seeds in a pot with dirt. People need a pot. They need to exchange oxygen with the air.

Next, I typed down cause and effect for water is Put water on it when the seeds are planted. Too much water can cause a plant’s roots to rot.

After, I typed down the cause and effect for sun is Plants need sun so it can grow faster. It will break open and the roots will grow.

This activity was hard because the website does show the information I needed.

Cause and Effect

We wrote down the cause and effect sentence.

I wrote down the mechanisms of how chocolate is made and how fireworks work.

First, I wrote down the mechanisms of chocolate. Chocolate is made by roasting the cocoa beans together with the sugar then blend the nibs and pouring it into a shape size. You then need to put it inside the freezer to make it hard cend set.

Next, I wrote down the mechanisms of fireworks. Fireworks work by burning a small bit of metal. You use a fuse so it can set off a charge. Lighting the fuse ignites the gunpowder.

Next time, I should add more mechanisms.

Hook

I learnt how to write an exciting introduction and suprising fact.

First, we watch a video about an introduction. Then we wrote down an exiting introduction about Mr Ogilvie. After writing down the introduction about Mr Ogilvie we wrote our exiting introductions.

Next, we wrote down an itroduction about chocolates. Did you know chocolate is made from dried seeds  that are fermented? They roast the seeds and heat them up. Then after they heat it up they add milk and sugar to add flavour.

After, we wrote down an itroduction about the life cycle of butterfly. Did you know that there are 20000 butterfly species? The three mechanism are about egguand about how will it take to grow. And one about how long will stay alive butterfly lays there eggs in a leave. It take 5-10 days, for it to become a butterfly. A butterfly will only saty alive for two to six weeks.

Last, we wrote down an indrotution about fireworks. Did you know that the largest ever fireworks display consisted of 810,904 fireworks? Fireworks work from burning small bits of metal by using a fuse so it can set off a charge. Fireworks were used in England at a royal wedding.

I enjoyed this activity because I like to write down an introduction.

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Today I learnt about the cycle of a butterfly by using cause, effect and casual language.

First we had to rearrange a mixed up explanation.

Next, I typed down the cause and effect sentence about the eggs in the first stage.

Then, I typed down the cause and effect sentence about the caterpillar in the second stage.

After, I typed down the cause and effect sentence about the chrysalis in the third stage.

Last, I typed down the cause and effect sentence about the butterfly in the last stage.

This is an easy activity because I already know cause and effect and it helped me understand.

Cause and Effect

Cause and effect can help people make there sentence make sense and make it correctly for an explanation.

Cause means that someone made it happen. Effect means that something happened by the cause. For an example: Mike's netbook was out of battery so he wrote all over on his desk.

Casual Language means are word that are together with cause and effect. For an example: The teacher was mad BECAUSE many students were talking too much.

For this cause and effect you need to put these in the right order so it makes sense. Make a copy for this google draw, if your finish send it to me.

LI: Cause and effect helps someone explanation makes sense.

Cause and effect helps people understand for the mechanism.

Writing l Explanation

I wrote an explanation planner about why we come to school.

First, I typed down an introduction. Schools help children to be confident and curious about the world. It helps your childhood to make better when they go to school and it helps.

Next, I typed down the main points. Learning requires you to get important skills to become smart, strong, and confident. This is knowledge acquired through study, and experience. Relationship requires the way in which two, more people, marriage, and friends, connect together. This can be like best friends playing together everyday. Being looked after requires that you take care of someone or something. That for some reason you can't live with your own family and are being looked after by us.

After, I typed down my summary. School requires humans to think skills and discover new ways of relating to people from different cultures.

I learnt the structure of an explanation is TIMES.

America's Cup

I learned about the America’s Cup. I worked with Fotu, Hector, Kahu and Dayne.

First, me and my group typed down the Main Ideas to identify the main ideas in the text. We need to type the who, what, when, where and why of each.

Next, we typed down 20 important words, 6 most important words and used the 6 important words to sum up the text in a few sentences.

Last, I evaluated the information in Main Ideas and Summarising. Evaluate means to form information and ideas.

These strategies can be helpful because summarising and evaluating can help us understand.
